Moving on up!

Hey guys, long time no post! Well I thought I'd swing by to let you know what's going on.

I'm looking to move my blogging in to a different direction, hopefully moving in to video tutorials and vlogs as well. So I'm moving more in to make up, tutorials, SFX/Horror make up, reviews, that sort of thing.

I've been constructing this blog for the past month or so and have 3 active posts on there now, I'm hoping you guys would take a look, see if it's your cup of tea and hopefully follow!

This blog will still be active for a while as I have sponsored posts coming up, but it hope you guys will support me in my new blog as nicely as you have supported me here.

All my love!

Prom Wear: Long Dresses

Hi lovers, long time so see I know! Third year of training is upon me and if I'm not in rehearsals 9-6 Monday to Friday, then I'm working/catching up on work on the weekends, which makes keeping up a blog quite difficult at the moment, and also a little note, I'm currently working up a new style of blog with what time I have of an evening, which will hopefully include a video side of things, I won't say too much now but keep your eyes peeled!

Anyway, now I know this is early but I've done a post before for this lovely company and they have approached me again with their newly refurbished website, and let me tell you, I am in awe of how beautiful these dresses are, and, more importantly, at an absolute steal. So if you have your room this school year girlies, or even if you have a black tie event to go to, this website is THE place for you to take a look.

This is the first in a series of 4 posts, this one mainly focusing on their gorgeous floor-length dresses. Now, as I mentioned in my last post for, as well as having standard sizes available to order, they also have the option to input your measurements, and for just an extra £15, they will make your perfect dress. And seeing as their prices are so amazing an extra £15 is a great deal in my book.

Here are some of my favourite pieces from the collection, now bear in mind there are 18 full pages of different dresses, available in every colour you could imagine, but here are just my personal faves.
Who doesn't love a summery pop of yellow? Not so bright as to burn your retinas, but enough to stand out definitely. And a timeless shape, perfect for prom!

A similar style here, but a difference in the bodice, and a lovely ombré from a baby pink to a gorgeous salmon colour! Again, effortless, but still stunning nevertheless.

I love love love flowered bodices on dresses, and not quite white so no trouble in looking too bridal, this would suit all my lovely brunettes out there! Pale or tanned, you'll rock this dress no problem!

I had to fit this sexy little number in here! With some stunning red lips, this ensemble would be the star of your prom! Need I say anymore?

Please head over to to look at their entire collection of Floor Length Prom Dresses, you'll have to see the prices to believe them! I definitely spent way too much on the totally wrong dress back when I had my prom (way back when..) so make sure you have something you love, that didn't break the bank!

mom jeans: river island, crop top: topshop

Happy Summer! It's been so difficult to get an outfit post organised! It's been a full month, now that is shameful, apologies and accept my love please. A lot of lovely things have happened over the past month, me and my wonderful boyfriend went on holiday to the gorgeous Amadores in Gran Canaria, it was the most perfect holiday and we'll never forget it. I've also moved out of my student house in London and am officially back in Plymouth for the Summer, which makes me happy, I'm working with my boyfriend and ready for a long and happy break with him and our families.

Now, outfit time, I've been living in my mom jeans more recently, probably as the weather ain't as glorious anymore, and they fit the climate. Now this is a newly featured crop top, but I wore it a fair bit on holiday, I love the colour and the fit is nice, I have a slight issue with the fact that my bra is rather obvious, depending on the bra I can sometimes get away with it, but it's still a bit of a faf to be honest.

I promised I would be doing more nail-based posts, but I have also failed you there up until now! I will be photographing more of my nail art technique and doing tutorials, but I have a query, do you guys prefer video tutorials, or posted step by step written tutorials? As I don't do videos at the moment, but it might be an idea to get in to! If you guys would like that of course.

Hope you're all enjoying your week!

Gingham lace

top: new look (generation 915), trousers: topshop

Happy summer! Well summer holidays to most of us university students that is! I have just completed my second year of my Musical Theatre degree, and have passed every module! So I am happily back home in Plymouth for 4 glorious months with my family and my boyfriend.

This is my favourite outfit at the moment, seems as if I say that with every new outfit that I post recently, but it's very true! The top is quite the godsend, another piece from the generation 915 kids section of New Look but I never have any problems with their clothing so I cannot complain about the fact I'm wearing kids clothes half the time! It's lovely for this time of year, and the crotchet detail at the bottom is a lovely touch. Now these trousers are my favourite things, I get so many nice compliments on the lovely gingham pattern, and they are perfect for this time of the year, not quite scorching weather but the bright colour and lightweight is a perfect compromise!

I hope everyone's enjoying their holidays if you're a fellow student and I hope you did well in all your exams, if not have an equally lovely week!

a boho thing

crop top: miss selfridge, culottes: H&M

I hope this gorgeous weather is treating everyone as nicely as it's treating me! And because of the glorious sunshine the lovely summer clothes can make their long awaited appearance.

I went major holiday shopping this past Friday with my boyfriend (2 weeks today and we head out to Gran Canaria for 10 days, yay!) and picked up way over £100 worth of stuff, and these 2 pieces were part of that lot. I've wanted these types of crop tops for ages, to wear in the summer and also to wear as part of an evening ensemble, so I bought the black and the white so they can go with a wide variety of outfits. These are available in different stores such as Topshop/River Island, I would honestly recommend the Miss Selfridge range they are more substantial in their material, in the other stores I tried on the white crop top and it would be very see through, but the Miss Selfridge one is substantial enough not to be like that.

Now these culottes, they are the comfiest things I've worn! To be quite honest, I wouldn't described these as something I would wear, I don't own any other bottoms like these, but I figured for summer I would need some lightweight longish trousers for the days when I just don't fancy shorts (which is a lot!) and these fit that brief perfectly, and at only £14.99, I couldn't say no!

Lots of love!

prom wear

It's that time of year! I know it's 2 months in advance for all the British school proms, but I know for a fact girls will be looking for dresses and getting prepared for it as soon as right now.

Now my prom is a distant memory, back 4 years ago now, but I definitely remember the army-like preparation for the big day, and the scoping of dozens of dress shops and accessory shops! Here's a nostalgia filled photo of my lovely prom day (June 2010)

Now, as a typical girl, I love a good shopping spree, but I remember for a fact the pain of finding a dress that fitted properly, the only reason I could wear this one was because we had it altered (at a hefty fee, unfortunately) as there seemed to be no dresses anywhere in my size (pretty much a 4 at that time)

I wish I had the option and idea to order my prom dress online, custom made, with my precise measurements able to be shipped directly to me.

There are many website able to do this now adays, and a website I have fallen in love with, firstly because of their custom sizing option, and also for their fabulous range and variety of beautiful prom dresses (they also sell wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses, which are also stunning!), is Miss Wedding Wear, they sell wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses and various other event dresses. Here are some of my favourite prom dresses, they are also really reasonably priced, the amount of girls in my year at school who'd spent upwards of £400 on their prom dress, and most of these beautiful pieces retail at less than £100, I think they're stunning and affordable, and hopefully will help you beautiful girls to look back on your prom with happy memories!

And all these beautiful pieces (plus another 58 pages of other beauties!) also come in any colour imaginable, they also come in standard sizes, or in custom made-to-measure sizes.

So, if you're struggling to pick the perfect dress for the big day, take a little visit to Miss Wedding Wear and pick from a gigantic range of various styles, lengths and colours, and make prom a wonderful day to remember, for an affordable price!

momma's and beverages

t-shirt: primark, mom jeans: river island

Hola kids! So I bought a lovely new outfit today! The weather is so lushous at the moment, so I needed a slightly more fitting outfit for the climate, so ta dah!

Now I've been debating on Mom jeans for a while now, I went off the idea when I tried on a less that flattering pair in Republic a few months back, but I spied these beauties in River Island and thought I'd give them a second chance. Thank goodness I did because I am officially in love! They are so comfy and the light, slightly acid wash colour is perfect for this kind of weather. Highly recommend these, at £40 they are a stretch money wise, but they come with a thick belt, and they are very well made so it's really worth it.

I thought this tee was adorable, and it's a nice fit on me, so I bought it. Pretty simple explanation for that one really.

Hope everyone is enjoying their easter, and hope the weather is as wonderful where you are, like it is here in London!

childs plaid

jumper: gap, skirt: new look (generation 915), shoes: next

As you fellow student may know, it was loan day earlier this week, and of course I may have spent a fair bit on some fabulous new purchases! Included in this spree was this beautiful skirt and these amazing shoes.
The blue version of this jumper was featured in an earlier post, so it's identical to that one bar the colour, extra comfy, it's been washed a fair few times and it's still kept it's shape and size, so no complaints there!
Now, on to the wonderfulness of this skirt, as you can tell by the way I'm gushing, I'm pretty besotted with it. And who can blame me? I've taken to shopping in the Generation 915 collection in New Look, I know it's technically the kiddies section, but come on! A piece this beautiful shouldn't have an age limit, well not to me anyway. And because it's a kids item, the price was a little cheaper than it would have been in the regular adult range, it is so comfy, also very flattering and fits very well, doesn't bunch up and I'm not forever adjusting it, which I've had a problem with mainly with skirts. So I also cannot complain about this one!
And now the best til last I feel, these wonderful shoes, I had a similar pair a few years back from New Look, but unfortunately I wore the hell out of them, and they were unrecognisable after about 3/4 months of wear, so I was determined to find a decent, well made and sturdy pair of flats like this. And hey presto, I found the perfect pair in Next, I hadn't had chance to wear them in before I went out in them today, but to be honest I really didn't need to, these are the comfiest things, and so cute with the entire ensemble.

Loving my easter break, lots of work and lots of family time, couldn't ask for more! Hope everyone's enjoying the break if it's started for you, if not, have a lovely week!

it's an animal thing

dress: topshop, jumper: zara

Ahh, I had the best discovery on the weekend. I visited home to see my new foster brother and I had a wee old rummage around my closet and found about 20 items of clothing that I haven't worn in about 3/4 years! This is a uniform dress from back when I worked for Topshop (Summer 2011) and I bought the jumper to go with it, it's the most adorable outfit ever, and I stopped wearing it when the dress and jumper got too small as I grew up, but now nearly 4 years later it fits again, and it's the cutest little ensemble with my patent black brogues and tights.

The weather has taken an ugly turn again, feels almost like winter again! Too cold and I am a misery for it! Assignments and Practical Assessments are taking over my life at the moment, Easter break this Friday cannot come any quicker! 2 weeks off to regain some sanity!

Hope everyone is having a super week!

a summer change

jumper: oasis, sleeveless shirt: mango, floral trousers: zara

It's finally warmer! Thank goodness, I thought I'd have no time to wear all my summer clothing, but it's around 15/16 degrees, while it's not tropical yet, I'm finally able to leave my sheepskin at home and not be a shivering mess.

Mother bought this sleeveless shirt for me, apparently mango was having a mega sale and she couldn't contain herself, so she picked me up this, a top for holiday, white jeans, navy shimmery jeans (they sound rank, but they are actually brilliant) and a few other bits and bobs, which I'm sure I'll feature soon. The good old faithful floral trousers make their second appearance, they are so easy and so comfortable I can't not wear them on days like this!

I hope you're all enjoying this lovely change in weather also!

starting my life book

I'm finally doing it! I've wanted to start one of these for beyond a long time now, it's a struggle being a perfectionist as I can never bring myself to start books/journals/scrapbooks as I'm too worried about ruining them. But I've done it, and it's started now, so I've got to carry on through now!

I purchased this leather journal from Urban Outfitters (£26) and never wanted to ruin it, so it's been sat on my side for nearly 2 months without so much as a pencil touching the pages. Now there are at least 6 full pages.

A life book for me, is to document my days, but not like a diary, through illustrations and blunt, honest thoughts about the day, things to look forward to, and coping mechanisms for me in every day life. I won't take pictures of my day by day pages as there are personal things about my life that are not going to be publicised, but the back of this book features my 100 item Bucket List.

6 of the goals are listed above, but they cover every avenue and very varied subject areas, but I've always wanted to make a detailed and an extended Bucket List, so I can make my life more exciting and create memories for myself and my family/friends.

If any of you have a similar life book/scrapbook/journal, please link me as I love reading about other peoples journaling!

happy pancake day

Happy Pancake Day for tomorrow beauties! I never really partake in Pancake Day, but I love looking at wonderful recipes for the sweet things online, so I thought for all of you who can enjoy it, you can give these different recipes a go, I'd love to see if you make any of these, so give me a link if you do!

These chocolate pancakes with caramelised banana are deliciously good, adults and kids alike will love these!

Mini pancakes with boozy fruits are a store-cupboard pudding and are perfect for Pancake Day.

Chocolate Galore! Sweet and scrumptious!

A traditional Polish filling for pancakes with a sweet cream cheese filling.

Dulce De Leche is a beautiful filling for pancakes and a wonderful recipe for Pancake Day!

5 beautiful recipes for the lovely day! Looking through recipes is one of my favourite things to do so looking through all these scrummy ones was a fun way to spend my afternoon! I hope you're all doing some interesting and yummy recipes for Pancake Day and I look forward to seeing all your pictures and some more scrumptious recipes!

the gap fit

jumper: gap, trousers: topshop, satchel: river island

Hola kiddies! Now the weather has decided to warm up slightly outfits like this are now okay to wear out with maybe a thin jacket, rather than layer upon layer of vests, jumpers and jackets and looking like a drowned ant! Now I got this jumper from Gap at the Clarkes Shopping Village outlined in my last outfit post! I love it a lot, it worked really well with a collared shirt as a combo as well, and I love that look.

Now, these trousers are a small love affair of mine, I tried them on a while ago (when they were full price) and they didn't have my size and the 8 I tried on hanged off so I was a bit gutted, but when mother and father visited me and we strolled down Oxford St, I found them, in my size and in the sale for £20 down from £40! So I was chuffed to say the least really! I love their high waisted detail, so I can tuck jumpers or shirts in and also there's never any constant hoiking them up, which is a plus!

This satchel is my best friend at the moment, I seem to have a lot of greens in my outfits recently, so this satchel has been making a fair few appearances. My mum picked this out for me and gave it to me for Christmas, she always seems to pick up little gems for me, so I thank her for that!

When sligtly warmer I wear this without a jacket or anything, and it remains comfortable throughout the day, so I have to say, it's perfect for this time of year.

National Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Hey beauties, today's post will be a little off topic, well very off topic to be honest. But, this is something close to me and, especially this week, something I'd really like to help raise awareness of.

Now, most of you probably aren't aware (or you might be, sorry for presuming!) that this week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, a week devoted to raising awareness of the various Eating Disorders that occur all over the world, affecting many boys and girls of all ages, and to challenge the stereotypes and the stigma that goes with the label "Eating Disorder".

Eating Disorders are serious mental illnesses that effect 1.6million people in the UK, and claim more lives than any other mental illness. Even so, they are treatable and recovery is definitely possible. Unfortunately there is little awareness of these illnesses other than what the media can portray which, most of the time, isn't the reality, so this week is in pursuit of changing the awful stereotypes that can come with having an Eating Disorder.

Types of Eating Disorders

There are various types of Eating Disorders, all equally dangerous and life-threatening.

  • Anorexia Nervosa
  • Bulimia Nervosa
  • EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified)
  • Binge Eating Disorder
  • Special Eating Issues (more specific issues, such as Diabulimia the act of a Type 1 Diabetics intentionally restricting their insulin intake to aid weight loss)
Eating Disorder Stereotypes

Having battled various Eating Disorders over the past year, and currently, I have had many unfortunate incidents regarding stereotypes and ignorance towards Eating Disorders, this is another reason why I wanted to make this post to help NEDA and their cause.

  • "All People With Eating Disorders Are Skinny"
Completely 100% FALSE. Statistics show that 1/3 of people with an Eating Disorder are underweight, 1/3 are of a normal weight range, and 1/3 are overweight. A quote I think describes this situation perfectly is "you can not judge a persons health based on their size" this is appropriate in this sense, and otherwise as well.

  • "All People With Eating Disorders Are Vain"
I have never heard a more ridiculous statement, it is a mental illness that sufferers cannot help, it barely has anything to do with being vain and how they look, I cannot speak for all sufferers but it can be to do with having a need for control, in an ever changing and uncontrollable world, the only thing one can control is their food intake and their weight, and that's what they can lean to. It's highly insensitive and very ignorant to believe in the comment above. But there are various different triggers for an Eating Disorders and effect people in different ways.

  • "All People With Eating Disorders Are Girls"
Erroneous, 10-15% of Eating Disorder cases are males, this is simply a stereotype because the media aren't as interested in the male Eating Disorder cases. Again, connecting to the 'vanity' stereotype, it is seen as a girl's disease for this reason. Which makes it harder for boys suffering to seek the help and treatment that they desperately need, which is why this stereotype needs to be addressed and corrected.

  • "All Bulimics Throw Up"
False, Bulimia is characterised by binge eating episodes followed by purging, and there are different types of purging, there is self-induced vomiting, but there is also laxative abuse, and compulsive, over-exercise.

  • "Binge Eating Disorder Isn't Serious Like Anorexia/Bulimia"
Ridiculous, it is a recognised mental illness and carries the same health issues and dangers as the more publicised Eating Disorders. Sufferers can experience heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and depression.

Another point to make, I feel, is that because it's a mental illness it carries a lot of stigma, especially for people who don't fully understand the condition. I know I'm guilty of this before I became ill, how many times have you heard of someone being sectioned/having psychiatric treatment and thinking to yourself, or gossiping, "nutjob" "mental case" "crazy", and that is due to nothing more than ignorance. And that is why the awareness week is set up, to make sure people are getting fully educated on the matter. The picture above does not mean I feel psychiatric illness need more awareness and more funding than other life-threatening conditions, but they at least deserve the same, that's what I find unfair to be honest.

I really could go on and on, but I literally would be typing for days. These stereotypes are very damaging to sufferers and their self-esteem, and they are adding to an already deteriorating knowledge of what an Eating Disorder really is.

I fully support NEDA's week to raise awareness for Eating Disorders, and if you would like to learn more about the various types of Eating Disorders and any associated disorders please visit the following websites as they are a great learning resource, or if you are suffering and would like to know how and where to get help and support

Many thanks to those who have read this, it's a subject close to me and my life and it's an important issue that needs to be publicised.

minion nail art

Yes, this is what I spent my afternoon off doing! I have to say it was actually a hell of a lot of fun, I did enjoy myself. When it all came together it was really satisfying to be honest, I was really proud!

I didn't want to do the entirety of my nails as I thought it would be too much, a bit over the top and would just be for novelty effect, and I wanted a set I could wear and would go with outfits etc.

Here were the steps as to how I completed this set.

(l-r) cover entire base with a yellow, then paint the tip with a blue, add the black detail with a nail art pen or use an acrylic black paint with a small brush, then add a grey/brown between the black detail, a smaller white circle on top of the grey/brown, then add final facial accents with a black nail art pen or acrylic paint.

I joked to my boyfriend that I would give this design a shot, but after he said how awesome I would be (I think he was being sarcastic to be fair) and how much I love taking on new designs, I went for it!

What do you guys think? And if you have any cool novelty nail art designs link me, I'd love to check them out!

marshmallow peeps

Got an outfit post for you guys today! I wore this outfit to an SU event the other night and some guy asked me why I'd come out in my pyjamas, which I found funny and took as a lovely compliment to be honest!

crop top: new look petite, trousers: zara (sale), necklace: claires

I am in love with these trousers! I have been since the moment I picked them up, my parents came up to visit me back mid-January and we went to Oxford street and had afternoon tea in Hyde Park, such a quaint and posh afternoon, it was rather cute I must say! But honestly, they are the comfiest things I've ever worn and yet felt confident enough to wear them formal and/or casual, they are the most versatile trousers I've ever owned if I'm honest.

Now, the necklace, I went to Clarkes Shopping Village with my parents around the same time, they brought me back to Plymouth for my inter-semester break so we stopped there for the day on the way back down, and I hadn't been here since I was about 7 so obviously I barely remembered a thing, but basically it's a massive outlet shopping village, every shop has their stock discounted by anywhere from 10% to 75%, and I found some absolute bargains in this place, I bought 5 nail pens from Accessorize for around £3.90, 2 beautiful Gap jumpers for £10 each, and the Claire's within the village had 10 items for £10 which included the entire store's stock, which was brilliant, and I have picked up some lovely things which I'm sure will feature in future outfit posts!

Now I have to confess something here, I've acquired a little addiction over the past few months, and I wanted to share it with you guys in the hopes that I will come to find that I am not alone in this battle.
I, Emily Rose Perrin, am addicted to... frilly socks.

Now, this doesn't look like a large collection, but this is only about 1/4 of the frilly socks I actually own, a few pairs are in the wash, and there are definitely at least 5 pairs at home in Plymouth. I find whenever I step in to Primark/Topshop/River Island and there stands before me a pair of frilly socks which I don't own, I find myself needing, not wanting, to pick them up and buy them, I wear them everyday without fail, especially in this kind of weather, I wear them with brogues, wedges, converse, tennis pumps, like everything! And they definitely make the entire ensemble of any outfit a lot more cute, and I love that look at the moment!

Hope everyone's having a lovely Sunday!

maroon with vintage floral

I have to say, I am very in to this tapestry floral print that is going on at the moment! I have shoes in the print, trousers, even big hair grips! So I obviously needed to make my nails match all of this lovely print going on, obviously!

I've also had yet to try out lots of new polishes and nail pens I'd picked up recently, so I was eager to try new and quirky things out, and if it matches my outfit then even better, eh?!

So these were the lovely polishes and pens I used to create the look.
  • Matte Nail Paint in Crush 350 by Barry M
  • Peach Puff by Models Own
  • Slate Grey by Models Own
  • Accessorize Glitter Green Nail Art Pen
  • Barry M Nail Art Pen in Pink
Now I wear SO MUCH of the Matte Nail Paint by Barry M, I have a jumper, various shoes, shirts and t-shirts, so this was a godsend! I've also always loved matte finishes on nails, it looks classy and effective with minimal effort or skill.

Also I just have to say about the Accessorize Nail Pen, I bought it as part of a pack of four, I also got pink, blue and orange, I picked them up at Clarks Shopping Village (a massive discount village filled with various shops with all their stock at dirt cheap prices) and this pack was only £4, so a mere pound per nail pen, and being that cheap I obviously expected little from it, and didn't expect I'd want to use them for more than little accents on elaborate designs, but I've really changed my opinion to be quite honest, they are textured well, with a lovely, pigmented colour and the glitter really is a sweet effect on nails, so I do recommend them if they are still in stock anywhere. I obviously only used a small amount for this design in particular, but for the future, they will come in very handy for making bigger and better designs (yay!)

This was how I started, the matte paint on all nails bar the ring finger, and then the slate grey on that remaining ring finger, as that was where I wanted the design to be. Whilst I definitely love the matte finish on this polish, I didn't feel it would quite go with the designed nail, so (as I'll show in the next step) I applied a top coat so it would match with the accented nail, as I wanted that to have a glossy finish to compliment the design.

So the design on the accented nail was fairly simple, to my surprise indeed, I started with a large blob of the pink nail pen colour and added a smaller blob of the Peach Puff colour before the previous pen colour had dried, and then gently swirled them together slightly with the end of a cotton bud, to mix the colours to provide the effect of the flower.

And after a small leaf accents with the Accessorize nail art pen and a lick of top coat on all nails, this is the finished result, I have to say I do love it. I've been organising my wardrobe to make sure the deep red is always present! I've been getting a lot of colours and asked for tips on how I do it, so I'm quite proud of my work here haha!

Hope you enjoy! If you give it a try or anything, send me the picture I'd love to have a look!
